Jedi Training!

Jedi Training at Hollywood Studios is a must-do activity for my family!   Open to children ages 4-12, it is a chance to train to become a real Jedi!

Jedi Knights have assembled Force-sensitive children from throughout the galaxy to test their abilities.
Under the tutelage of the Jedi, the recruits learn how to use the Force—and their wit—to wield lightsabers. Now that the Empire has driven the Jedi to the distant corners of the galaxy, the training must proceed in secret at ancient Jedi temples.
But not even this precaution can shield the Jedi from the evil forces of the Dark Side for long. Soon, the temple opens and the students are challenged to use their new skills when they come face-to-face with their greatest fears—in the frightening form of notorious Star Wars villains!

Here is what my 12-year-old daughter who is NOT a Star Wars fan has to say: 

Jedi training is a very fun experience for ages 4-12.  I enjoy it and I’m not a huge fan of Star
Wars! When you complete your training you get a very cool pin.  You get to go on a parade, fight members of the dark side with a lightsaber, and ultimately get to train to become a jedi.  I have done it twice and would do it again. Before you go to the show when they are telling you what to do can get a bit boring if you’ve done it multiple times, but it is so worth it. She gives it 4/5 stars because "hearing the beginning is a little boring after you've done it before." :)




My 10-year-old son has this to say:
I really like learning the moves with a lightsaber.
You can fight the dark side.
The members of the dark side may vary.
You also get a Jedi robe to use.
You use the force.
Ages 4-12

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom

When we visited Walt Disney World in 2016, my kids discovered a fun, interactive game called Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom.   This game combines role-playing with cards (think Pokemon, Magic, etc.).   Each day when you enter the park, you can visit the "fire station" and request a set of cards for this game.    The Cast Members there will set you up for the game, which is a virtual "battle" against villains in Magic Kingdom.   You visit hidden portals throughout the park and cast spells using your various cards in an effort to help Merlin protect the Magic Kingdom from villains such as Hades and Maleficent.   Each time you cast a spell that is strong enough, you are given clues about which portal is next on your journey.   Some cards are "stronger" than others, and spell cards can be combined to strengthen them.    There are several different missions, ranging from easy to hard.  As you progress through the diff...

Magic Shots!

When you purchase the Disney Photopass Memory Maker along with your ticket and resort purchase, you have Disney photographers waiting to take as many family photos as you want on property.   Photographers are stationed with MOST characters in the park (except at character meals), as well as in prominent locations such as in front of the castle at Magic Kingdom, the Tree of Life in Animal Kingdom, and Spaceship Earth in Epcot.   A special feature of this package is "magic shots," which are photos with surprise "magic" in the photos when they are added to your account.  My kids have always loved Magic Shots, and this time they tried to "collect" as many as they could!   Most photographers won't do many magic shots unless you ask, but sometimes you get a fun, unexpected surprise!  On our last trip we "collected" magic shots!
